The Personal Librarian Program is specifically designed for first-year students based on GENS 101.
For first-year students:
You will be assigned your very own librarian based on your GENS 101 class. Your Personal Librarian will email you three times in the fall semester and three times in the spring with library and research tips. You can ask your Personal Librarian all kinds of questions!
- Getting started - background research, search terms, etc.
- Best search tools and resources to use
- Navigating search tools (PML Search, databases, websites, etc.)
- Evaluating resources
- Ethical use of resources (citations, plagiarism, etc.)
- How to better use Google
- What services the library offers
- Where else on campus you can get help
For faculty and PEP Leaders:
We encourage you to invite the Personal Librarian for your first-year students into your GENS 101 course. This can be a short 5-minute introduction or a longer information literacy session. We also encourage you to include your Personal Librarian's contact information in your syllabus and hype up the library services.
